Destaco 847-S toggle clamp is the pneumatic version of the 247-S manual vertical hold down toggle locking clamp. It incorporates an over-centre toggle action linkage combined with a pneumatic cylinder to provide a device that is easily adaptable for a wide variety of applications. This clamp is completely self-contained & requires only a pressure source for user safety. Destaco pneumatic toggle clamp is sensor ready for both round and T slot style sensors. It features in-built flow restriction to eliminate the need for external flow controls. This clamp comes with a solid clamping arm for keeping workpieces securely in place and handling loads up to 1000 lb. The clamping arm provides wide clearance for easy loading using a sturdy helical cam mechanism operated by a double-acting air cylinder. It features a large opening angle that ensures easy component removal and can handle a maximum pressure of 145 psig. This toggle clamp applies the holding force in the same downward direction, but the handle is in a horizontal position in its closed setting. This allows the unit to be used in instances where the operator needs more clearance above the clamp, or where you need the operator's hand to be away from the clamp during operation.
Destaco 847-S pneumatic hold down toggle clamp is used for applications like machining, welding, grinding and metal fabrication in the food & packaging, automation, aerospace and automotive industries.
A. The toggle clamp actuates against the workpiece and stretches or compresses the equipped linkages for keeping the workpiece in a stationary position.
A. A coupling grease like Mobil XTC should be used when dealing with Destaco mechanical clamps, while the Magnalube G grease is great for use with pneumatic cylinder seals.
A. The clamp's holding capacity or holding force represents the capability of a clamp for holding down mechanical equipment or sheet metal while assembling automotive parts or during similar manufacturing processes.
A. There is no such significance of the colour of the clamp's handle, as it only represents a recognisable area. This helps operators in finding the handle quickly & easily.
A. Clamping force is the amount of force actually applied to the workpiece by closing & locking the clamp. It is normally less than the stated holding capacity. The actual clamping force depends on various factors including cylinder bore, cylinder area, spindle position (clamping arm length) and available air pressure. In most cases, the clamping force is approximately 2 to 3 times the force exerted by a pneumatic cylinder.
A. Yes, Destaco also supplies inductive sensors designed in accordance with IP65 standards to ensure protection from powerful hydraulic jets, dust & heavy rain.
A. Destaco hold down toggle clamps apply downward clamping force by increasing the applied load via toggle mechanisms. You can see the clamping force on the packaging itself, which is specified in Newton (N). Use this information with the size of the toggle clamp to work out the degree of pressure that the tool will have to exert on a piece of wood. The larger the piece of wood, the greater the pressure required.
