TRAMEX CME4 Analog Concrete Moisture Meter

Building inspectors or flooring contractors use moisture metres to determine ideal conditions when installing floor tiles over a concrete slab or subfloor. Tramex concrete moisture metre employs advanced analogue and digital technology to greatly extend the capability of the instrument.

Working Mechanism:

• Tramex CME4 measures electrical impedance, which varies in proportion to moisture content. This is a non-destructive method for detecting and assessing moisture conditions in cementitious slabs and screeds.
• An alternating electric field is created between parallel co-planner electrodes to determine electrical impedance.
• The field penetrates the material under test, passing a very small alternating current through it.
• CME4 metre measures this current, determines its intensity and converts it into moisture content.
• This Tramex metre can be used to take immediate readings over a wide area by simply pressing it into the ground in strategically chosen locations.

Features:

• Tramex concrete moisture metre CME 4 comes with two simple push-button controls - ON/OFF and HOLD.
• It automatically powers OFF after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. NOTE: If the metre reading changes or a button is pressed, the power remains ON.
• This unit features two LED indicators. Upon pressing the ON/OFF button, the lower LED illuminates and remains illuminated until the CME 4 automatically shuts off. A flash appears on the upper LED when HOLD is selected.
• Concrete moisture readings ranging from 0% to 6% are displayed on a clear & easy to read moving coil metre with a linear scale.
• To facilitate the easy recording of readings, the HOLD button freezes the needle on the moving coil metre.

Q. What levels of moisture are acceptable?

A. It is acceptable to have moisture readings up to 17%. Readings over 17% indicate saturation, which means that the drywall needs to be replaced and measurements should be taken to prevent moisture build-up in the future.

Q. How do you read a Tramex concrete moisture metre?

A. In order to test a wooden sample, turn on the device, select Scale 1 and press the rubber electrodes directly to the wooden surface. In the top line of the analogue dial (where calibration is marked from 5% to 30%), read the moisture percentage. Upon activation, the audio signal will be played when readings are above 18%.
