A. Capacitor is used to create a phase shift in the starting winding of the motor. This phase shift creates a rotating magnetic field in the stator, which initiates the movement of the rotor. Once the motor reaches a certain speed, the capacitor is disconnected from the circuit.
A. Single-phase motors operate on a single alternating current (AC) voltage waveform, while three-phase motors utilise three separate AC voltage waveforms that are out of phase with each other. Three-phase motors are generally more efficient and offer smoother operation.
A. Yes, the rotation direction of a single-phase motor can be reversed by swapping the connections of either the main winding or the start winding. Reversing the connections changes the direction of the rotating magnetic field, which in turn changes the rotation direction of the motor.
