Working Mechanism

  • These 3-pole circuit breakers automatically interrupt the flow of electricity to the circuit, protecting the equipment on detecting a fault.
  • They can be reset by switching the handle to off & then on position, once the fault has been resolved.
  • Electronic trip units in these breakers can be used for monitoring & protection of the units.

Features

  • Eaton E2J type mining complete moulded case circuit breakers have a J-frame to house the trip unit & all current-carrying devices inside their frame.
  • These circuit breakers have a built-in test kit for electronic field testing and a push-to-trip button to check the tripping function during scheduled maintenance.
  • They offer a current rating ranging from 100 to 250A & a voltage rating of 600V and also have a sliding handle with ON & OFF positions for easy identification of the breaker's status.

Compatible Accessories

  • Shunt Trips: These devices mechanically trip the breakers remotely by applying power (from an external source) to their shunt trip terminals.
  • Auxiliary Switches: They connect to these circuit breakers to remotely indicate whether their contacts are open or closed.
  • Alarms: They indicate the tripping of the selected breaker during remote operation.

Standards and Approvals

  • UL
  • IEC
  • CSA

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the interrupt ratings of these Eaton E2J type mining complete moulded case circuit breakers?

  • 65kAIC at 240VAC
  • 35kAIC at 480VAC
  • 18kAIC at 600VAC
  • 10kAIC at 250VDC

What is the difference between a thermal-magnetic and a magnetic-only circuit breaker?

The thermal-magnetic breaker has both thermal and magnetic elements for overload trip & inrush / instantaneous trip, respectively. The magnetic-only breakers do not have thermal protection and are mainly used for motor protection.

What are the points to inspect before operating these Eaton E2J type mining complete moulded case circuit breakers?

  • Remove the dust, dirt, grease, moisture or foreign contaminants from the unit.
  • Check that the unit's switch is free to move by switching the unit ON & OFF several times.
  • Inspect the unit for any cracks, chipping or discolouration. Tighten the terminals & connectors. Check the mounting hardware.
  • Remove any safety hazards near the installed area.
