Product Details:

Thomson S24-17A8-04 linear actuator converts rotational motion into push or pull linear motion. It is ideal for lifting, dropping, sliding or tilting machines or materials and offers safe and clean motion control.

Features:

  • This electric linear actuator uses a DC motor with a series of gears and a lead screw to push the main rod shaft.
  • It features a limit switch that determines the ends of a linear actuator's stroke. Upon reaching either end of its stroke, the rod of this actuator makes contact with the limit switch, which turns off power to the motor, thus stopping the rod to travel further and causing damage.
  • It comes in a corrosion-resistant housing to handle harsh conditions and withstand temperatures up to 150 degrees F.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How to get feedback from a linear actuator via a potentiometer?

A. To get precise feedback using a potentiometer in an automated system, compare the desired extended length of the linear actuator to the actual position that is given by the potentiometer.

Q. What is an auto-reset thermal switch?

A. An auto-reset thermal switch shuts off the motor if it becomes too hot which means that the motor has exceeded its maximum allowed duty cycle. When the motor has cooled off, the switch will close again automatically and the motor will continue to run if power is still being applied to it.

Q. What are IP ratings?

A. IP (International Protection Marking) ratings are commonly referenced standards that classify electrical equipment using standardised tests to determine resistance to ingress of solid objects and liquids. The first digit applies to airborne contaminants and the second digit to moisture / water (like IP66).
