SUPCO M500 Megohmmeter, LED Display, 20 to 1000 Megohms

Supco M500 megohmmeter accurately measures the condition of insulation for condenser & blower motors, transformers, ground loop & conduit wiring, panel boards, relay control circuits and hermetic refrigeration compressors. It is suitable for detecting ohms with a scale reading up to 1000 megohms.

Working Mechanism:

• Motor / compressor that needs to be checked should be removed from all connecting wires and cables.
• Connect megohmmeter's red test lead to the compressor electrical port while the black test lead to the unpainted surface of the compressor.
• Press the red button on Supco M500 megohmmeter and wait.
• Wait for 10 seconds until the LED's glow and note down the resultant reading.
• In case just the 20 megohms LED glows, it indicates low insulation value or ground shorting.

A. Yes, the M500 megohmmeter sends low amperage high voltage spikes through the windings testing the insulation. Thus, it works on scroll compressors as well.

Q. Can Supco M500 megohmmeter be used on 3 phase units?

A. Yes, for 3 phase units, attach one test lead to the chassis of the unit and the second test lead to the motor terminal. Repeat the connection for each phase.
