Product Details:

OTC 1750 engine stand is a sturdy support structure that holds and positions engines and transmissions during various maintenance, repair or testing processes. It is useful in the automotive, marine, aviation and manufacturing industries. This OTC diesel engine stand enhances workflow by providing a stable platform for technicians to access different engine components. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of accidents and injuries associated with manual handling.

Working Mechanism:

  • This OTC repair stand features a positive-crank handle locking mechanism to ensure stable engine positioning in all states.
  • To engage the stand, slide the collar inward towards the gear housing.
  • Then, align and engage the collar slots with the socket head cap screws of the housing.
  • Next, rotate the crank slightly, if necessary, to secure engagement.
  • To disengage the stand, first, slide the collar away from the housing.
  • Finally, move the collar beyond the shaft's ball detent.

Features:

  • OTC 1750 engine stand includes a worm and gear set having a 96:1 ratio that smoothly rotates the mounted engine 360 degrees, making any part or location on the engine easy to reach.
  • This stand has a crank handle that can be locked into any position to keep the mounted component stationary while performing service work.
  • It also has a built-in 12-ton jack to raise the engine or transmission on the stand and provide the necessary swing radius for full rotation clearance.
  • In addition, this OTC stand has two large metal front wheels and two rugged rear casters for easy manoeuvring, whether loaded or unloaded.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How to assemble this OTC 1750 engine stand?

A.

  • First of all, place the head assembly in an upright position.
  • Then, position the toolbox on top of the head assembly.
  • Set the jack on the plate following the parts list.
  • Bolt the jack to the plate using lock washers and cap screws, then move the completed assembly forward.
  • Next, assemble a retaining ring on one end of each pin.
  • Attach a lifting strap around the head assembly.
  • Lift the head assembly and lower it onto the post.
  • Then, align the holes and insert the longer pin.
  • Place a retaining ring on the other end of the pin.
  • Next, raise the lifting jack assembly and fit it into the mounting bracket under the tilting shaft assembly.
  • Now, insert a pin and fasten the pin in place with a retaining ring.
  • Place the jack handle in its storage position on the repair stand.
  • Finally, tighten the collar and then back off the collar 1/8 turn and tighten the set screw.
  • If an engine mounting adapter has been included, attach it to the tilting shaft. Torque the bolts to 610 Nm (450 lb-feet).

Q. How to ensure safety while using a diesel engine stand?

A.

  • Wear eye protection that meets ANSI Z87.1, CE EN166, AS/NZS 1337 and OSHA standards.
  • Do not exceed the rated capacity of 2722 kg (6000 lb). Ensure that the centre of the engine is not more than 330 mm (13 inches) from the mounting hub surface.
  • Use the engine stand only on a hard, level surface.
  • Lock the handle locking mechanism before applying load to the engine stand.
  • Ensure that the load is centred and secured to the mounting attachments to prevent off-centre loads that may lead to rotation.
  • Use alloy steel Grade 8 or property Class 10.9 socket head cap screws to mount adapters or engines. Maintain proper thread engagement for shear strength.
  • The engine must be solidly mounted to the repair stand before removing the support from the lifting device.

Q. How to mount any engine using the universal adapter plate?

A.

  • Verify that the handle locking mechanism on the engine stand is engaged before mounting an engine.
  • Select an engine adapter plate with the correct bolt pattern for the engine to be serviced.
  • Bolt the engine adapter plate to the engine using specific spacers, bolts and washers. Wrench tighten the bolts.
  • Attach side plates to the engine adapter plate, leaving the cap screws and nuts loose.
  • Align the engine, including the side plates attached to the adapter plate, with the universal adapter plate on the engine stand.
  • Raise or lower the engine until its centre of balance aligns with the rotating shaft of the engine stand.
  • Align the closest tapped holes in the universal adapter plate with the holes in the side plates.
  • Securely tighten the side plates to the engine adapter plate on the engine and to the universal adapter plate on the engine stand.

Q. How does an engine stand streamline maintenance tasks?

A. Engine stands contribute to a systematic approach to maintenance by providing a stable and organised platform for technicians, making assembly and disassembly tasks more efficient.
