H-4200 Humboldt pocket soil penetrometer is ideal for checking consistency and offering rapid indications of compressive strength of undisturbed Shelby tube cohesive soil samples. It also verifies whether excavation sidewalls require shoring while evaluating the stability of the soil.

Working Mechanism:

• The scale indicator must be completely inserted into the body of the penetrometer until the 0.0 mark is showing.
• The stainless steel piston (the opposite end of the scale indicator) has a tip area of 0.05 sq.inch. It is pressed into the soil until the engraved line (1/4 inch from the tip) reaches the soil level.
• A reading can then be taken from the scale indicator.
