Product Details:

MIG (metal inert gas) welding is usually employed for thick and heavy materials. It uses a consumable wire that serves as both the electrode and the filler material. Hobart 500559 portable wire feed welder is designed for welding jobs in maintenance, construction, rental, auto body, farm and various other commercial applications.

Working Mechanism:

MIG welders work on the same mechanism as TIG or arc welding. It works on the fundamental principle of heat generation due to the electric arc. This heat is further employed to melt base plate metal and consumable electrode, making a robust joint. The protected gases are also supplied through the nozzle that secures the weld zone from other reactive gases. It provides a fine surface finish and a powerful joint.

Features:

  • It has five-position voltage control that permits fine adjustments of the arc for different materials and thicknesses.
  • Its Quick Select drive roll offers three grooves, two for different sizes of solid wire and the third for flux-cored wire, making the set-up quick and easy.
  • This Hobart 500559 MIG welder is usable with small or large spools of wire according to welding needs.
  • It has a polarity changeover feature for conveniently altering the polarity for solid or tubular wires.
