Product Details:

Bussmann LPJ-110SP fuse prevents unwarranted tripping during motor and equipment startup phases. This slow-blow Class J fuse is generally paired with the indicating fuse block to isolate an electrical circuit when subjected to prolonged loads and short circuits in industrial and commercial applications.

Working Mechanism:

  • In response to overcurrent events, such as short circuits or faults, the current flowing through the fuse elements exceeds their respective rated capacities. This excessive current generates heat in both elements.
  • The high-current element reacts quickly to the short-circuit condition. As the heat from the excessive current increases, this element melts rapidly, causing an arc to form and interrupting the circuit.
  • The time-delay element responds to temporary overcurrents caused by inrush currents or motor starting. The element heats up due to the excessive current but has a controlled melting point that allows it to withstand these transient overcurrents.
  • As the short-circuit element melts and creates an arc, it rapidly interrupts the circuit, isolating the faulted portion. Meanwhile, the time-delay element remains intact, ensuring that transient overcurrents do not cause unnecessary tripping.

Features:

  • This Bussmann 110A fuse features blade mounting for ensuring secure and efficient installation.
  • It has interrupt ratings of 100kA at 300VDC and 300kA at 600VAC for effective circuit protection even in high current scenarios.
  • This Low Peak Class J fuse has a melamine body that provides both mechanical strength and electrical insulation.
  • It features a dual-element design for enhancing protection and reliability in medium voltage circuits.

Compatible Accessories:

  • Bussmann JM60200-3CR Fuse Block: This fuse holder is designed to work seamlessly with Class J fuses rated for 600VAC, offering a robust interrupting capability to safeguard against short circuits.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What does LPJ mean on this fuse?

A. It means Low-Peak Class J fuse, featuring a dual-element with a time-delay design. This fuse exhibits a time delay of at least 10 seconds.

Q. What's the process for selecting the appropriate Bussmann LPJ fuse type?

A. To make the right choice, consider the following factors

  • Standard operating current.
  • Voltage while in operation.
  • Environmental temperature circumstances.
  • Initial surge currents.
  • Maximum fault current.
  • Timeframe within which the fuse needs to open.

Q. How to maintain this Bussmann LPJ-110SP fuse?

A.

  • Periodically inspect the fuse holder, fuse contacts and fuse itself for signs of damage, corrosion or overheating. Replace any damaged components promptly.
  • Ensure that the fuse is properly sized for the circuit's current and voltage requirements. Using an undersized fuse can lead to premature failures, while an oversized fuse might not provide adequate protection.
  • Keep the fuse holder contacts clean and free from dirt, debris and oxidation. Dirty contacts can lead to poor electrical connections and increased resistance, resulting in excessive heating.
  • Store spare fuses in a clean and dry environment to prevent corrosion or contamination that could affect their performance.
