Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the spindle handle?

The spindle handle or Tommy's bar provides a rotating motion to the vise screw when tightening or loosening of the workpiece between two jaws is required.

What is the function of a jaw plate in these vises?

Jaw plate is a simple metallic strip fixed on the movable as well as fixed jaw. Its function is to grip the workpiece firmly when different operations are to be performed on the workpiece.

How to install Wilton drill press vises?

  • Use proper size bolts, nuts, lock and flat washers, in all base mounting holes. Do not weld the base of the vise to any metal object.
  • Only hand-tighten swivel base lockdown nuts at the side of the base.
  • Ensure that the bench top to which the vise is mounted is properly secured to reduce vibrations and prevent inaccuracy during the operation.
  • Avoid using a pipe extension to tighten spindle handles. Doing so would cause the handles to bend and overstress the lock down bolts.
