Gas Valves

Gas valves are ideal for controlling the pressure & flow of fuel gas towards furnaces for heating applications. Gas valves use a thermostat / control panel for opening / closing their valves.
Robertshaw is a leading manufacturer of appliance controls including electronic & electromechanical controls for applications in electric & gas cooking, storage water heaters and space / central heating.
Robertshaw gas valves are compatible with natural (NG) & liquified gas (LP) type fuels. They use a manual valve & pilot valve for controlling gas flow in intermittent pilot ignition applications. Robertshaw gas valves are equipped with an inlet filtered screen, preventing dirt or debris in the gas flow from entering into the gas valves. They can be connected to an electric supply having voltage ratings of 750mV, 24V or 120V (line voltage) through a control panel / thermostat. These Robertshaw gas valves have an inlet opening of 1/2 or 3/4 inches and an outlet opening of 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4 inches. Robertshaw 7000BMVR gas valve has a gas cock dial with Off, Pilot & On marking for manually switching off or on (with full flow) the gas valve. Selected models of Robertshaw gas valves feature a gas pressure regulator for controlling the pressure of the gas when the flow rate is too high or low.
Choose from a wide range of Robertshaw gas valves, available in combination, fast opening, low capacity, slow opening and standard opening valve variants.

Uses

Robertshaw gas valves are used to control / regulate the flow of fuel gases like natural gas (NG) & liquified petroleum (LP) gas in space heaters & other HVACs. These Robertshaw gas valves are ideal for use in commercial spaces, warehouses, workshops & other industries.

Working Mechanism

  • Robertshaw gas valves are powered by an electrical solenoid that is controlled by a thermostat or control panel.
  • It is generally 2-stage for safe operation & energy saving.
  • After installing Robertshaw gas valve in piping & connecting other accessories to it, set a desired temperature through a thermostat or control panel.
  • This opens up the first valve in the two-stage Robertshaw gas valve & start supplying fuel gas to the furnace at low settings.
  • The pilot control detects temperature increase (if any) and sends a signal to the solenoid in Robertshaw gas valve.
  • The solenoid detecting the electrical signal opens up the secondary valve in Robertshaw gas valve and allow full flow of the gas (according to regulator pressure setting if equipped).
  • When the temperature reaches the desired point, the valves close to stop the gas flow through Robertshaw gas valves and therefore stop the furnace from further heating.

Features

  • Robertshaw gas valves are ideal for regulating gas flow to furnaces / burners for heating applications.
  • They are compatible with natural gas and liquified petroleum gases.
  • Robertshaw gas valves are used to provide heat ranging from 70000 to 3000000 BtuH.
  • They have maximum electrical power ratings (coil voltage) of 24V, 120V and 750V.
  • Fast opening gas valves provide gas to the furnace within a short period whereas a slow opening gas valve is used to prevent flame rollout or rough ignition.
  • Robertshaw gas valves have 1/2 to 3/4 inch inlet and 3/8 to 3/4 inch outlet.

Compatible Accessories

  • Pilot And Ignition Components: These pilot & ignition components are used to ignite fuel gases in gas burners or heaters.
  • Regulator Controls: These convertible pressure regulators are used to manually control the pressure of gas flow through Robertshaw gas valves. These regulator controls need to be changed when converting from one gas to another.

Standards and Approvals

  • Robertshaw gas valves are RoHS compliant for ensuring user safety & efficient performance of the gas valves. These Robertshaw gas valves have NEMA standard terminals for quick connections & operation.

Installation

  • Use pipe thread compound or tape on male pipe threads while keeping the first two threads clean. Users should not use compounds on female threads.
  • Mount a Robertshaw gas valve on the piping in any position except upside down.
  • Connect pilot & ignition components, thermostat and other accessories to Robertshaw gas valves.
  • Robertshaw gas valve is ready for operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some brands that Robertshaw gas valves cross-reference with?

Robertshaw gas valves cross reference with the equivalent Honeywell, Vulcan Hart & White-Rodgers gas valves. So, if users are looking for competitor gas valves that are either out of stock or obsolete, Raptor Supplies may have the equivalent Robertshaw gas valve available.

Where is Robertshaw located?

The headquarters of Robertshaw is located in Itasca, Illinois, US. The company has 12 manufacturing plants for making Robertshaw gas valves & electronic control systems.

What safety precautions users should take while installing Robertshaw gas valves?

  • Unused outlets on Robertshaw gas valves must be plugged using the socket plugs provided before operating.
  • Pipe or tubing connected to Robertshaw gas valves should be kept clean.
  • The connected gas piping should be pressure tested before installing a Robertshaw gas valve to avoid hazardous conditions due to high pressure.
  • Check for any cracks or leakage on Robertshaw gas valve & piping before installing to prevent accidents.

What to do in case your Robertshaw gas valve stops working?

  • Check for signs of wear on Robertshaw gas valve.
  • Check for gas leakage from Robertshaw gas valve or the connected piping.
  • Ensure proper connection to thermocouple or other electronic gas ignition components.
  • Contact HVAC experts or professionals for replacing the faulty Robertshaw gas valve and avoid tampering on your own to prevent accidents.
