Socket Sets

Proto socket sets are suitable for use with damaged and stubborn fasteners, as well as those made of soft materials, like aluminium, lead and tin. These Proto impact sockets feature a TorquePlus configuration featuring a radius-corner design for shifting the stresses away from the corners and uniformly distributing over a large surface area. The internal design of these sockets further reduces rounding of the edges and offers more flexibility to turn worn out or rusted fasteners. These Proto tool socket sets are available in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive sizes having chrome, full polished or black oxide finishes on Raptor Supplies.

Features

  • These Proto impact sockets feature a TorquePlus configuration having a radius-corner design for shifting the stress away from the corners and uniformly distributing it over a large surface area.
  • The internal design reduces rounding of the edges and offers more flexibility to turn worn-out or rusted fasteners.
  • They feature satin / chrome / full polished / black oxide finish for resisting corrosion on exposed surfaces.
  • These Proto socket sets are available in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive sizes.

Standards and Approvals

  • ASME B107.1

Frequently Asked Questions

What factors need to be considered for choosing the right socket set?

  • Metric or SAE measurements
  • Drive size
  • Points

Which is better - 6-point or 12-point sockets?

  • 12-point sockets are ideal for lightweight repairs, but 6-point sockets are recommended for heavy wrenching.
  • 6-point sockets are much less likely to slip off corners or stubborn fasteners.

What is the difference between a ratchet and a socket?

A ratchet is a handle that snaps into one end of the socket via a square-drive connector. The other end of the socket fits over a fastener. Ratcheting sets have a mechanism that allows the handle to tighten the fastener when you turn it in the clockwise direction and rotate freely by swinging it anti-clockwise.
