Working Mechanism

  • Motor starters consist of a contactor that completes the circuit to the motor and an overload relay that monitors the current that the motor is drawing.
  • This overload protection device is set to a pre-determined maximum load.
  • When the load exceeds the maximum load, the device opens the motor starter control circuit to turn it off.

Features

  • These three-phase starters do not require an additional contactor for forward and reverse functions.
  • They can be equipped with an optional emergency-stop feature to disconnect safely during faults.
  • These motor starters have NEMA 1 enclosures that provide IP23-rated protection.

Standards and Approvals

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a starter necessary for motor application?

Starters protect DC motors from damage caused by high current and torque during startup. They provide external resistance to the motor and restrict the current to an acceptable level.

How are Eaton motor starters better than their counterparts?

Eaton motor starters are compact units and can save up to 78% space over traditional electromechanical starters.

How to avoid failure in these motor starters?

Check for loose or corroded wire connections to avoid failure.
