Working Mechanism

  • These GHB Series moulded case circuit breakers incorporate both fixed thermal and magnetic trips.

  • Fixed Thermal Trips:

    • Fixed thermal trips are based on the heat produced by the circuit's current flow.
    • The trip unit contains a bimetallic strip sensitive to temperature changes.
    • The bimetallic strip heats up and bends as the current rises, tripping the breaker.

    Fixed Magnetic Trips:

    • Fixed magnetic trips use the strength of the magnetic field created by the current passing through the circuit.
    • The trip unit contains an electromagnet sensitive to changes in magnetic field strength.
    • When the magnetic field intensity reaches a certain threshold, it causes the breaker to trip as the current increases.

Standards and Approvals

Frequently Asked Questions

How to install these circuit breakers?

  • Switch off the main power disconnect.
  • Remove front panel front trim.
  • Position circuit breaker line-end conductor retaining screw from bus bar.
  • Place circuit breaker load-end retaining recess under hook mounting rail.
  • Secure line-end conductor to bus bar with screws.
  • Connect load terminals and accessories after mounting the circuit breaker.
  • After completion of the installation process, check the terminal connecting hardware for correct torque readings.
  • Install the panelboard front trim back.

How to inspect these MCCBs on-field?

  • Use a lint-free dry cloth or brush to remove dust or dirt. If you find any difficult-to-remove contamination, find the source and eliminate the problem.
  • Switch the circuit breaker on and off several times to ensure free movement of mechanical linkages.

How to choose the right GHB Series circuit breaker for my application?

Consider factors like the electrical load, the operating environment and the system's specific requirements.
