Working Mechanism

  • The thermal trip mechanism consists of a bimetallic strip that expands when heated, detecting when the current flow is too high.
  • When the temperature of the bimetallic strip reaches a certain threshold, it bends and triggers the circuit breaker to open, thereby interrupting the current flow.
  • The magnetic trip uses an electromagnetic coil that detects when there is a sudden surge in current, which occurs during a short circuit.
  • When the current reaches the set limit, the magnetic trip triggers the circuit breaker to open the contacts and stop the flow.

Features

  • These units feature a moulded case composed of durable and flame-resistant material, providing excellent insulation and mechanical protection.
  • They are equipped with an adjustable thermal & magnetic trip mechanism which monitors the electrical current flowing through the circuit and trips the breaker if the current exceeds the set limit.
  • They are available in three or four-pole configurations with interrupting capacities of 40kA at 415VAC, 35kA at 480VAC and 25kA at 600VAC, respectively
  • These F-frame circuit breakers are suitable for reverse feed applications and integrated with both line and load terminals for quick installations.

How is the tripping status indicated?

Eaton moulded case circuit breakers feature a trip flag to indicate the TRIPPED and OFF status of the breaker.

How to reset a moulded case circuit breaker if it trips?

When the breaker trips, it can be reset again by pressing the OFF and then the ON pushbutton, which closes the breaker contacts and starts the current flow.

What is a complete breaker?

The C-Series circuit breakers are complete breaker units comprising an F-frame, a thermal-magnetic trip unit, standard terminals (line / load) and metric mounting hardware.
