Working Mechanism

  • These FDPB-type fusible panelboard switches have a fusible element to melt and open the circuit in the event of an overcurrent or short-circuit.
  • When the switch is in the on position, the current flows through the fusible element in the fuse holder.
  • If the current exceeds the rated operating temperature of the fusible element, the element starts melting, causing the switch to open and interrupt the flow.
  • When the current has dropped down, the handle can be manually moved to the on position, causing the switch to close and allowing current to flow through the switch.

Features

  • They are enclosed in sheet steel cabinets to offer superior durability and impact resistance.
  • They feature a compact design and can be installed in PRL-4 F or Type CDP / FDP distribution panelboard chassis.
  • These switches also feature an interlock mechanism that prevents the switch cover from being opened even if the switch mechanism is in the ON position.

Standards and Approvals

  • UL

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the function of the distribution panelboard?

Distribution panelboards are electrical enclosures that contain multiple circuit breakers or switches for distributing power to various loads or circuits in industrial and commercial facilities. They are mounted on a wall or other support structure and connected to a power source like a generator.

What are shunt trips?

Shunt trips help remotely trip the switch open in response to a control signal for controlling the power distribution system and providing equipment protection. They consist of an electromagnetic coil & spring-loaded mechanism, which when energised, releases the trip mechanism of the circuit breaker or switch.

What is the function of a padlock?

These switches can also be padlocked in the ON or OFF position to prevent accidental or unauthorised operation of the switch.
