Working Mechanism

  • These switches consist of both operating and tripping mechanisms:

Operating Mechanism:

  • The operating mechanism is used to open or close the switch contacts. It features a handle that is used to manually operate the switch, along with a set of linkages and springs that helps translate the motion of the handle into the movement of the contacts.
  • The handle can be used to rotate or move to the on or off position.

Tripping Mechanism:

  • The tripping mechanism of the switch consists of a bimetallic strip that is designed to bend when exposed to excessive heat or current.
  • This helps to automatically trip the switch in the event of an overcurrent or short circuit condition.
  • It also includes a trip bar, which is connected to the bimetallic strip and moves the operating mechanism to the off position when the strip is activated.

Features

  • They feature line & load terminals to control the flow of electricity. These terminals are made of stainless steel material which is highly resistant to corrosion and rust.
  • These switches incorporate three-and four-pole configurations with a maximum current and voltage rating of 125A and 600Y / 347VAC, respectively.
  • They have a molded case that protects electrical components against dust, dirt, moisture and other contaminants, as well as mechanical damage or impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the function of a three-pole switch?

Three-pole switches are designed to connect three different conductors in low-voltage systems. If a surge happens in any of the conductors, the switch trips & the circuit opens to prevent fire hazards.

What is the advantage of metric mounting hardware?

The metric hardware offers precise and standardised measurements when required. It includes screws, bolts, nuts, washers and other fasteners that are specifically designed to fit with metric-sized holes and components.
