An electrically held contactor has a built-in mechanism that keeps contacts closed after the electromagnet has de-energised until an external command is given to open it. It is typically used in applications where it is important to keep the load connected even if the power is lost, such as emergency lighting systems, elevators and more.
Solid-state timers use semiconductor technology to control the timing of an electrical circuit. They are used to control the energisation of the electromagnet in an electrically-held contactor, turning the contactor on / off at specific times.
