Features

  • They incorporate a circuit breaker that protects the branch circuit in the event of a short circuit or an overload and cuts the power before any potential damage occurs.
  • They feature a one-piece, silver-plated, copper bus that provides superior conductivity throughout the entire loadcentre and a steel backpan to allow smooth mounting of a breaker while offering stability.
  • They feature a tangential centre knockout for easier installation as well as improved endwall knockouts to ease the use of existing wiring.
  • They come with top or bottom feed with straight-in wiring configuration to save overall labour and material cost.
  • They include an inboard neutral that increases the gutter space for easier installation of conductors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a loadcentre and a panelboard?

As per UL and NEC standards, there is no difference in the functionality between panelboards and loadcentres. However, panelboards are deeper than loadcentres and accept both circuit and plug-on breakers, whereas loadcentres only use plug-on breakers for branch circuit protection.

Can a loadcentre be used as a sub-panel?

Eaton's main lug-only loadcentres are applied downstream of a main circuit breaker panel and referred to as a sub panel. A subpanel is equipped with a main breaker of its own to allow power interruption without going back to the main panel.

What are the main components of a loadcentre?

Eaton loadcentre comprises three basic components: the enclosure, the interior and the trim. The function of the enclosure is to contain the circuit breaker which mounts on the interior while the trim seals the enclosure, protecting the personnel from potential shock.
