Working Mechanism

  • These transformers work on the principle of electromagnetic induction.
  • They consist of two separate coils of wire (primary & secondary) wrapped around a common core made of a ferromagnetic material.
  • When an alternating current (AC) is supplied to the primary coil, it induces a magnetic field in the core, which in turn induces an alternating current in the secondary coil.
  • This process allows voltage transformation to maintain a steady current required for a specific operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these coils corrosion-resistant?

Eaton transformers have epoxy-encapsulated coils to provide protection from corrosion and contaminants.

What is the difference between an isolation transformer and a control transformer?

An isolation transformer is designed to provide electrical isolation between the primary and secondary circuits, while a control transformer is used to match the voltage level of the control circuit to the voltage level of the load. However, certain control transformers can provide isolation between circuits, depending on the design.
