Working Mechanism

  • When the outlet pressure hits the compensator setting, a compensator spool shifts over against the spring force to allow the pump outlet pressure to reach the internal servo piston.
  • Reduced piston travel in the rotating group and decreased flow rates at the pump output are the results of the surface area and pressure of the servo piston pushing on the swash plate.
  • While the system pressure falls below the compensator setting, the spring force allows the compensator to spool back in the opposite direction.
  • Then, through the oil in the piston chamber, a case drain line returns oil from the servo piston chamber to the tank.
  • By reducing the servo piston force, the bias spring forces the swash plate back onto the stroke at full angle and flow.
  • The pump then provides the necessary flow to maintain the compensator pressure, keeping it at a constant value.
