Working Mechanism

  • The plugs should be positioned into the pipe at a distance at least equal to the pipe diameter.
  • Connect one end of the inflation hose to the plug inflation fitting.
  • Brace / block the plug.
  • Inflate pressure to the plug through the inflation hose and let it stabilise.
  • Proceed with the testing of pipe or other use of the plug.
  • Release plug pressure from outside the danger zone until the plug is completely deflated and finally remove bracing / blocking system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the shelf life of Cherne pneumatic plugs?

Cherne offers a 2-year warranty on all pneumatic plugs (from the date of manufacture) when kept under controlled conditions and at temperatures between 0 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit.

How often should the pressure of the plugs be monitored?

The inflation pressure should be checked and maintained a minimum of once per 4 hours while in use.

What will happen during over-inflation or under-inflation of the plugs?

  • Over-inflation: It may cause the plug to dislodge and rupture at extreme velocity.
  • Under-inflation: It may cause the media and the plug restrained to dislodge from the pipe.
