Frequently Asked Questions

How to install bolt caps on fasteners?

  • Choose the correct bolt cap: Determine the correct size and style of bolt cap that matches the diameter and type of bolt being used.
  • Prepare the bolt: Ensure that the bolt is clean and free from any dirt or debris. If needed, clean the bolt with a soft cloth or brush to get a smooth surface.
  • Align the bolt cap: Place the bolt cap over the bolt head, aligning it properly to fit snugly. The cap should fully cover the bolt head without any gaps.
  • Apply pressure: The user must apply some pressure to secure the bolt cap in place. These bolt caps feature a snap-on design and can be pressed firmly onto the bolt head until they click into place. They do not require threading or screwing the cap onto the bolt.
  • Check for stability: Once the bolt cap is installed, check to ensure that it is securely fitted and stable.

How to remove a stuck bolt cap?

  • Apply a penetrating lubricant, such as WD-40 and let it penetrate for a few minutes to help loosen rust or corrosion that may be causing the cap to stick.
  • Use gripping tools, like pliers / wrenches to gain leverage and twist or pull the cap off.
  • You can also lightly tap the sides of the bolt cap with a rubber mallet. This gentle impact may loosen the cap and break the bolt head. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage.
  • The metal screw caps can be also heated using a heat gun to loosen the cap.

Can I use bolt caps on threaded rods?

Bolt caps are primarily designed to fit over bolt heads than threaded rods. They snugly fit onto the bolt heads to ensure compatibility and stability. For threaded rods, other protective covers or threaded rod caps must be used for complete protection.
