Description
Uses & Applications
Starrett digital calipers are designed for measuring the external & internal dimensions of workpieces. These calipers are suitable for measuring objects in laboratories, manufacturing sites, automotive facilities, research centres and production lines. These digital calipers are also suitable for quality control applications.
Working Mechanism
Starrett calipers feature two sets of jaws that measure the diameters or distances related to workpieces. Once switched ON, these jaws are placed into the cavity that needs to be measured and the jaws are opened by sliding the measuring assembly. The digital display reads the distance between the measuring points of the object. The jaws of these calipers are then locked in position with a slide lock for measuring the value.
Features
- High Contrast LCD Readout: Starrett calipers have high contrast LCD readout for displaying the distance to precise decimal point places.
- IP67 Rated: Starrett calipers are IP67 rated, offering complete protection against dust, dirt, coolants and water usually found in machining shops and automotive facilities.
- Inch / Millimeter Metric Conversion: Starrett calipers feature inch to millimeter conversion for instantly converting & displaying the measured value in the desired unit system.
- Wireless Data Transmission: Starrett calipers have a built-in wireless data transmitter for transferring the measured values to electronic devices or computers for review. They can transfer the data to devices in a range of 30 feet without any data loss.
- Hardened Stainless Steel surfaces: Starrett calipers have hardened stainless steel construction that offers complete protection against highly abrasive chemicals and solutions.
- Built In Slide Lock: Starrett calipers have integrated slide locks that prevent the slider from moving for recording / transferring the measured value without error.
- Rechargeable Battery: Starrett calipers have rechargeable batteries that enable ease of use in remote locations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How accurate are digital calipers?
A. Digital calipers are highly accurate instruments critical for measuring in laboratories and scientific facilities. These digital calipers are accurate up to 0.0005 inches of the workpiece's inside & outside diameter and depth. Additionally, these instruments can also convert the measured value to the desired unit system with high accuracy.
Q. How do digital calipers work?
A. Digital calipers can take accurate measurements using a series of capacitance sensors that run along the length of the beam of the caliper.
Q. What is the tolerance value for digital calipers?
A. Digital calipers have a tolerance of 0.002 inches.
Q. How to zero digital calipers?
A. These digital calipers have a zero button for setting the caliper reading to zero value the time it is closed. Once closed, the caliper reads 0.000 inches and is ready for taking measurements.
Q. What measurements can be obtained from calipers?
A. Ideally, four types of measurements can be made from calipers. Measurements like object thickness, outside diameter, step distance, inside diameter and hole depth can be made from these instruments.
