Working Mechanism

  • Circuit breakers get triggered when faulty current flows through the system.
  • The trip coil of the breaker gets energised and moves away from each other, thus opening the circuit.

Features

  • Eaton CHND-Series moulded case circuit breakers have an interrupt rating of 65kAIC at 480V.
  • They have LS / LSIG / LSIA trips to interrupt the supply during overloads.
  • These three-pole units are equipped with Digitrip OPTIM 550 for true RMS current sensing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How are circuit breakers better than fuses?

A. Circuit breakers can be easily reset after they trip due to a fault, making them reusable units. Fuses, on the other hand, break once they detect overload and cannot be used more than once.

Q. Can humidity trip a breaker?

A. When moisture corrodes wiring and other electrical contacts, short-circuit occurs. Humidity causes a current increase in the circuit, which trips the circuit breaker.

Q. How is a circuit breaker different from a switch?

A. A switch opens and closes the circuit in normal operation, while a circuit breaker opens or closes the circuit during faulty currents.
