About Functional Devices Inc / Rib

Functional Devices, Inc. catalogue includes Class 2 transformers, AC & DC power supplies, UPS systems, wireless motion sensors, wall switches and more. The brand's closet light controllers are used for switching lighting loads, including door jam switches and ball & magnetic switches. They have a status indicating LED for user convenience. These RoHS-compliant controllers feature an enclosed design for protection against harsh industrial conditions. Functional Devices RIB relays are suitable for effective monitoring & control of electrical currents. They can detect current levels accurately and are suitable for industrial processes, HVAC systems and power management. Moreover, these relays ensure optimal performance by triggering actions like circuit switching or alarms based on predefined current thresholds. These devices incorporate an SPST sensor contact to enable precise and responsive switching based on sensor input.

Functional Devices Inc / Rib Competitive Advantages

Relay In A Box

RIB relays are designed to provide a convenient and efficient way to control various electrical loads within a building or industrial setting. These relays offer features such as multiple input options, status indicators and ease of installation. They are often used to switch or control lighting, fans, motors and other electrical devices. Fundamental Devices RIB relays are UL-listed and RoHS & CE-certified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the black wire labelled as 'COM' on the primary side of Fundamental Devices transformers?

The black wire on the transformer's primary side is labelled COM because it connects all of the voltage inputs available in a transformer with a multi-input primary. It does not refer to neutral or ground.

What?s the difference between ESR2401B and RIB2401B relay?

Fundamental Devices RIB2401B relay is UL916 (Energy Management Equipment) and UL864 (Control Units and Accessories for Fire Alarm Systems) listed for use.
Fundamental Devices ESR2401B relay is UL924 (Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment) listed.

What is the difference between the RIBXGHTA and the RIBXGTA current sensor?

Both units have SPST contacts that are activated when the load line current exceeds the threshold of the current sensor. However, Fundamental Devices RIBXGHTA current sensor is meant to pass 120VAC at 1A (maximum). In contrast, Fundamental Devices RIBXGTA current sensor can be used as a dry-contact output or can pass up to 30VAC/DC at 0.4A (maximum).

Do I need to apply power to RIBXGTA?

No, an external power supply is not required for the RIBXGTIt gets its power from the current flowing through the monitored load line.

Is it possible to use RIB relays outdoors?

The brand's self-enclosed RIB relays can be used outside as long as they are housed in a NEMA 4 or NEMA 4X rated enclosure. To get the RIB relay in a NEMA 4 or 4X enclosure, send an RFQ and add '-N4' to the model number.

What is the maximum ambient temperature at which a RIB relay can operate?

Most of the RIB products are rated for operation from -30 to 140 degrees F.
