Tap Magic aluminium cutting fluids are designed for cutting and machining operations on aluminium; ideal for tapping, milling, drilling, threading, sawing, turning and boring. These ozone-friendly fluids are completely free of 1, 1, 1 trichloroethane. They dissipate heat rapidly, provide closer tolerances, improve surface finish & machinability, and are highly effective on magnesium & similar non-ferrous metals. Choose from a wide range of these aluminium cutting fluids, available in capacities ranging from 1 to 275 gallons.
The main purpose of a coolant is to remove the cutting heat produced from the cutting zone and keep the cutting zone temperature low. Whereas, a lubricant decreases the coefficient of friction between the cutter and the rake surface of the chip, thus decreasing the rate of heat generation.
The key difference is that the cutting fluids can lubricate the interface between the cutting edge of the tool and the chip, whereas lubricants can lubricate between hard materials by decreasing friction between the objects.
They can be produced using petroleum distillates, water, air, plant oils, animal fats and other basic materials. They may be referred to as cutting fluids, cutting oils, cutting compounds, coolants or lubricants, depending on the situation and the kind of metal cutting fluid under consideration.
